Some people got in trouble for having chickens in the city (The Village in OK City) and we offered to take the remaining chicken. Unfortunately, it seems to be a rooster and we have two already who have to be kept in separate ends of the coop - with no more ends to offer this fellow. So I need to place some ads to find him a home but I don't know what he is. Anyone know? It could be a perfectly common breed, just not one we've had. He's a large fellow and extremely handsome.

He has a kind of weak crow - much deeper than our little bantam roosters' crows - and has feathers down the sides of his legs. He has 4 toes/foot. Anything else I can tell you? Thanks.

light brahma roo
x2....and you might consider keeping him instead of one of your own roosters, especially if you are having trouble with yours. Brahmas are known for being very mellow and laid back for roosters. My own brahma is also the friendliest, quietest rooster I have.

x2. They're known as gentle giants of the chicken world lol.

Thanks everyone. I'd love to keep him but he is a very big fella and our hens are all small so I know my husband will not agree. My hubby protects 'his girls'. :) I'll post him in craigslist or freecycle and try to find him a good home (the rooster, not the hubby - hmm, maybe I should rethink that, ha ha). He's really beautiful and I appreciate knowing now what he is so I can describe him correctly.
