To start, circumstances has left us without a large fowl Buff Orpington male.

However, we have 2 Buff Wyandotte Bantam males.

On https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/437570/old-and-rare-breeds/930#post_10145308 a suggestion was made to mate a bantam male WFB Spanish to hens large fowl WFB Spanish ....

Quote:

Here is my thought, mate the Tom Roebuck Buff Wyandotte male to my SOP type Buff Orpington hens.

Goal: large fowl SOP type Buff Wyandottes.

In March/April I will have a new Buff Orpington cockerel. Meanwhile all of my Buff Orpington eggs will be omelets.

Rules of thread: Post only thoughts related to the project please. Side trips... aka rabbit trails.... that help with this is appreciated. Please invite your friends that can assist.

We will see if he can cover the hens when we set the first eggs. The link was interesting. sounds almost like how they developed the Braggs Mountain buffs.
