March Hatch-Along Thread- Come Hatch With Us!!!!!

yep...there's black bibbed, magpie, and then some people who don't worry too much about raising pure colors hatch out what I would call a black pied color. They make excellent pets and are real characters! If you wanted some eggs, I could probably set you up with a half dozen or so once my girls start laying again. Just pm me if you're interested. This would be a freebie batch and I'd only charge for shipping. You should definitely get some! I just love mine!!!

...I must have black pied calls! Black and white animals are my ultimate weakness :p

These guys are so sweet, I just had to share

Topper (left, with the tuft, hence Topper. lol) was hatched the end of February. Lenni is three weeks younger, hatching out mid-March (for some reason, Topper and hatchmates were completely feathered out at 4 weeks. Lenni is four weeks now?!).

Topper suffered a broken wing tip and I brought him in to stay in our bathroom for a couple of weeks. Lenni just didn't seem to be able to hold her own. For days she'd get run over by hatchmates, wasn't eating properly... Even now she's half the size of our other Pekin duckling. First Topper was beside all the new ducklings with separation between them. Soon, Topper was reaching over to 'beak' the babies. By day three, I removed the barrier and watched as Topper essentially adopted them all. LOL

The babes went to live in the outdoor coop, but I kept Lenni and Topper back a couple of days. They are both doing very well now. And are inseparable!

I have shipped eggs in the bator right now. Day 14. I read and re-read all of the great info on this site and let my eggs sit for 24 hours before placing them in the bator. After that - I put them in the bator in the turner, without the turner turned on and left them there for 6 days. I could take it no longer so I started rotating. I candled on day 8, made notes, threw one out and questioned 6 of the remaining 17. I candled tonight and the 6 questionable ones are gonners and I now hope for 11. I am sick to my stomach. This is my second attempt. I followed the instructions on the hovabator and lost everything at my first attempt last month. I really wanted those babies. I thought I did everything by the book - so here we are again. I am optimistic. Fingers crossed.

11/17 are GREAT numbers for shipped eggs. You have to remember that 50% is what most people consider good on shipped eggs. Don't beat yourself up over the ones you have lost. The conditions that eggs are exposed to during shipping are beyond our control and even though you may only get a few chicks in the end, once you see that first little fuzzball it will be well worth the stress and anxiety.

Does anyone have a 12volt adapter (plug style like a cigarette lighter plug in) for a Genesis Hovabator 1588? If yours came with one, I don't necessarily need it but would like the specs off from it. GQF mfg didn't have any tech guys to answer my questions today. And the operators were not able to help me.
It isn't absolutely necessary to use this plug to hatch, my power system can do the regular A/C plug, but would prefer to use the 12volt plug if I can.
Thanks if anyone can help!

Why not just get a power supply for the car. They are fairly cheap at Walmart and you can just plug the incubator into that. Instead of only having it to use for the incubator the power supplies are great for laptops, cells phones, etc.
