early death goose egg

Hi everyone,
I've just candled the goose eggs in my incubator all have beautiful blood vessles inside but one has what I'm expecting to be the early red circle of death. I don't want to take this egg out until I know for sure thats what it is. Has anyone got images of this so I can compare? I have looked on the internet but found no images. Thanks
 
Thanks for asking this question, I was going to post about it too. So any egg with this blood ring WAS fertile, but is now considered dead? I see the same thing in several of mine at 7 days in, but definitely have some embryos visible in others...
 
Right. They were fertile but then died. Which can happen for a number of reasons. The pics here are perfect examples. You won't see any healthy veins in the middle of this ring. It's caused from the blood pulling on the outer edges of where the embryo was growing and developing. Also, you may spot a dark mass (the deceased embryo) which floats. You won't see movement unless you move the egg. If you're never sure, wait another day or two and candle again. Once you've come across this several times, you'll begin to easily recognize which have quit developing. I can now almost tell right away if an egg is viable or not by how it looks upon candling.

Healthy/growing embryos will have nice veins and you may possibly see movement if they're far enough along. (Use a bright candling light. I use a big mag light and it works perfectly.)
 
Thankyou very much everyone. I knew this egg was different as all the others have beautiful veins inside and I've heard about the bloodring so presumed it was that, I have removed the egg, so hopefully will get a happy hatch with the rest :)
