Here are the pictures of the egg in question.








Could not be candled but hubby said he thought he felt movement.

Anyone encountered this before? Advice?
 
It looks as if the egg has a leak there with the goop on the outside. Is the egg cracked through the shell and membrane? If the hubby thinks there is activity in the egg give it a shot and hope it hatches. I would wipe the egg and place it to the ear to listen. Be a nice time to have a stethoscope wouldn't it.

Other times I have seen this was in an egg that has zero activity, got missed during candling and the egg innards were solid water, rot... If you can, gently shake the egg listening for the swishing sound of liquid. Could be a bad egg. If you feel or hear a dull thud then there is a chance a chick is still all right and cross the fingers it is a successful hatch..

Hard to tell, then give it a chance. I take it you are in the last stage before hatching.Day 18-21 . I have had eggs explode in my incubators from time to time as well. Not a pleasant smell. Best of luck, hope it is a good egg and the chick survives,,, Steve
 
Our first Autopsy on an egg revealed something had formed but died in the egg...




Hubby did the honors and whacked the egg open.
