We fell in love with this chick yesterday. She is about 5 days old in this picture. We brought her home to live with our 3 ISA Brown's (which are about 12 days old).

We bought her at the farm store in the pen that said Assorted Bantam's. She is so sweet and cute. She sleeps under the wings of our ISA browns and follows them around like they are her mama.

I read on a website that Bantam Silkie's have 5 toes (not sure if that's true). Our little girl only has 4 but she is growing feathers on her feet as you can see in the picture. We would really like to know what kind of Bantam she is and also what she might look like as a full grown hen. If you can help us we would really appreciate it. Thank you!

She is amazing! So adorable! And cute she sleeps under the other chicks wings!

I'm not really sure what she is. Not a silkie though as they do have 5 toes and also black skin! I would also be curious to see what she will look like grown up! Maybe someone will know! :)

Can you identify what type of comb that the chick has? If purchased in an assortment pen, might also be a mix.

When a hatchery sells an Assortment, they provide a variety of breeds to the customer :) All breeds are pure blooded, and are sold according to the quantity of stock the hatchery has at the moment. Purchasing a mix breed chick from hatchery stock (with the exception of EEs) is close to none.
Where does your feed store purchase chicks from?

I agree. It looks just like mine when they were that little.

The chicks come from Townline in Zerland, MI.

I hope it's not a rooster. We live in a subdivision an I'm trying to fly under the radar with my 3 ISA Browns and this chick too!

Some farm stores, at least around here will buy from local producers, I don't think that they mentioned that the Assorted Bantams came from a Hatchery?

Are you in MI? I live between Gaylord and Alpena.

I have had many chickens from Townline (and actually picked up 40 from TSC today that are Townline brids) :-) Great quality!

I don't know what she/he is- but it will be a beautiful bird!

I have a rooster that never ever crows... so if it is a boy- maybe you will get lucky!
