We bought the shed, and converted it. All in all, about $2000 went into this project (would have been more if we built from scratch).

This is a view with the interior and exterior chicken door closed and latched. We did both for not only weatherproofing the interior door, but also added predator protection.

Here's the exterior door...

Here it is opened...

And the inside with chicken doors opened...

View of the nesting boxes (the lids on the top fold all the way back, the bottom lids latch to stay opened when I need them to be...

Here's the roosts...

Here's the loft space on both sides. I'll be attaching a drop "floor" to cover this area; dual-purpose ladder on the loft side as I'm going to use this space for supply storage. That way, I don't have girls getting up there and hiding nests and eggs!

Next weekend, we'll be fencing their 8x60 pasture. We'll keep all the chickens together until about 15 weeks of age, so we know who is in FACT a boy or a girl. The boys will be separated and moved to another pastured area beside the house, and this time gap will give us time to complete their housing and let the grass finish growing.

Just a week to go, and the babies will be in their new home, enjoying fresh air, sunshine, and all the goodies they can scratch up!

Wow super awesome! mine is more of recycled type coop! I can't wait to plant flowers. How do you plan on setting up your fenced area? is going to be enclosed, had perches?

Our fenced area will be 48" high poultry fencing, with 12" additional fencing buried underground to deter "digging" predators. I'll probably run fishing line across the top to deter hawks (those are our only flying/overhead predators here, but formidable nonetheless), and the birds will be cooped at dusk. We have solar-powered electric fencing surrounding our backyard acreage that has, so far, been successful at keeping the coyotes and such away at night. We'll stick with that until a problem arises. They'll have access to food, water, shade, and roosts/perches in their open coop during the day while they're turned out to pasture.

Wow, that's soooo awesome. Your girls will love! Well done you should be proud

We priced all the individual materials to build something not NEARLY this nice at this size, and it was going to be over $2400. Converting seemed to be the way to go. We worked on it all weekend and I look forward to seeing how they react to being out permanently next weekend! Thank you!
