I have a bantam salmon faverolle hen who I just got recently. She has not laid an egg for me but I figured it was moving. Three days ago I found what appeared to be a chunk of shelless egg in her pen. Then yesterday I found she had yellow coming from her vent. I checked her abdomen and it was hard. So I brought her in and let her soak in warm water and massaged her. I gave her tums dissolved in water, added calcium to her feed and keep her inside. Since then she has had several more soaks, I checked her vent and was not able to tell anything. When you look at her vent the hard round is down, I thought eggs came from above. She still has egg yolk colored fluid coming out of her vent and a little blood. The size of the mass is about goose egg size. Now she is just sleeping , however her comb is still pink. My questions are... 1 how do I see in her vent to tell if there is an egg? 2 where would the egg be? I am very frustrated not being able to help her.

You are going to have to lube your finger, and go in...

Is she pooping? If she is pooping, she's not intestinal bound. BUT if her belly between her legs is starting to get larger, her legs start to splay more when she's walking and standing, you've got a definite repro problem. More along internal laying, possible eyp. Is there a vet you can take her too?

I have gone thought the whole dang EYP and internal laying thing. My last dot hen just passed from it.. Antibiotics, low light, heat and supplements didn't help the 4th time around... Anyway, hope some one else can chime in and give a better answer.
