dog killed 15 hens and one is left with dog 2 dog bites. I have baytril. but not sure what to use.

Isn't it great when a girl recovers. such an accomplishment. If you can post some pictures.

Had to soak her tonight anyway, as I was saying goodnight I realized she had a big black 'thing' in her wound. Took her inside, realized it was a big yucky scab.

Right after attack:

Currently:

I like the nice healthy tissue I found under the scab. She's clearly filthy, because Neosporin is like glue.... can you tell she's normally white?

The hole into her chest cavity is getting smaller and smaller. Made sure to rinse it out real good again (kind of creepy, I have to push on her chest to force all the water back out). She's a good sport about it. I filled the hole with Neosporin again and she went back to the coop.

Good pictures ! The wound does not look angry, does it ? For Whispers deepest wound to heal was a long time. I did remove debris from the interior of the wound that was actually dead tissue. That made room for it to heal over.

It's a lot of scar tissue, since the flap didn't close up but sort of shriveled up and bunched up. It's really thick, making it look swollen, but it feels hard, leathery, almost like a callus. It doesn't ooze and it was entirely dry, until that scab came off tonight. The interior of the cavity has dried up as well. Just keeping it clean and removing debris when needed.

She has that one lame leg. She flaps her wings to get around long distances. She seems to be okay short distances as well with a hobble kind of wobble that she does. I wish I could let the others up to her hutch it put her in with the others but they peck at her a lot. ;(
She sits at the window most if the day watching and the sister hens visit her to check out the treat box. I hope he is happy enough. Her comb is not as red as her sisters' and they are about the same age. :(. I hope she is healthy.

The surface looks really good. That scab might have helped in keeping the wound clean. Your a good nurse.

She is really low in the pecking order. I wonder how do you get her higher up so they won't pick on her ? I am always looking to comb color. Don't know much about it. But I figure I am taking in information about them. Keeping check of everyone.
Do you think her comb is pale ?

A little pecking is going to happen. It depends really on what she does in return. When I put my hurt chicken in, she kept to herself a bunch, the others tried to yank on her bandages.. so she stayed away. A few days later she was part of the flock again.
