Excellent photos. Like you say she can recover. As long as she does not get an infection. Baytril, worked very well on my Whispers.

AFish mox human grade amoxicillin sold in and online pet stores. I used the 250mg twice daily during the first week, then once a day until it was 100% healed. After the attack it took 3 days before infection kicked in. I'm not keen of giving antibiotics unless absolutely necessary. I keep fish mox and fish flex on hand for our hens and if our cats get an abscess from fighting. I replace the antibiotics each year and keep them stored in the fridge. I also keep blue-kote, vetwrap, probiotics(stored in freezer) and vitamins on hand.

I use 250mg of fish mox which is human grade antibiotics.

Here's one side of her wound

A week later with antibiotics and lots of TLC

She's 100% healed and off antibiotics in 2-2.5 weeks. All her feathers grew back on the new skin.

Amazing!

Thank you
You're welcome... And you know you can get Baytil without a prescription, just do a search for "baytril for birds" or my favorite, the Mexican version of generic Baytril "enfloxil" 100ml bottle for $40!, that will last forever, lol.

My chicken was getting antsy today.. picking at one of the wounds on her back and the one on her side. She had blood all over her beak and was flinging it around the bathoom and then strolled into the livingroom.

Ended up rinsing her wounds again with diluted iodine and coated the wounds heavily with regular Neosporin, then loosely put ducttape over the wounds (only attached to the feathers and it sort of hovers over the wound, like a shield) as suggested by someone else. Let her into the coop for a minute so she could do her thing. She RAN to her nestbox and layed her egg. She's now back indoors in a dog crate.

She started eating her pellets today and has been drinking well, so far, so good. Wound looks ok. It was a bit bloody this afternoon with her messing with it, but it should be better now that it's covered. No infection so far. Fingers crossed.
