I attached a pic, I have no idea what this could be! She is acting normal with no lethargia. Eating, drinking and active as usual! I have been putting vet rx in the h2o! Also, one of my older hens has a swollen eye for months, she's laying normal, and acting normal! Please help

Also, I should add that the eye has been itching her, as she is rubbing it on the ground.

It could be eye worm or more likely a respiratory infection. Respiratory infections are highly contagious and usually come back even if you medicate them. They can be introduced by wild birds or new birds you bring in. Tylan 50 injectable 1/2 ml. given into breast muscle for 3 days is a treatment. Eye worm is sometimes seen by looking around inside the lids.

When i look around the lid, what exactly am i looking for? could it still be respiratory even though she's eating, drinking and active?

Respiratory infections can give them bubbles in the eyes which can become secondarily infected (eg mycoplasma. )Is she sneezing or coughing at all?might still seem well otherwise as can vary in severity. Hope she gets well soon

No sneezing or coughing at all. Should I continue with the vet rx in the water?

Are you able to gently open the lids to see if its a local infection or did the vet look? Mine got a white/yellowish lump rather than pus that we would have.a local antibiotic to the eye only won't help if she does have a respiratory infection underlying it but she does sound well.is she rubbing her eye on her back, and does this leave a wet mark?what about a worm, I haven't seen it but some pictures look like it?

When I open the lids, it looks whiteish and a little red. I don't see worms but I don't know what to look for. The eye is bubbly. I separated them from the rest of the flock. I have not noticed her rubbing it on her back, and also don't see a wet back

Get the Tylan 50, it is not expensive--maybe $12. Don't use Tylan 200--that is too strong. For large fowl it is 1/2 ml. into breast muscle, 1/4 ml. for bantam breeds or small chickens. It can't hurt them, and it might save them. Look up eyeworm here on google--you can see worms in the eye, but I think you have a respiratory disease.
