Looks like vent prolapse in the text... It says to try using preparation H or even simple olive oil on a gloved hand to try reinsertion...or take to vet for pro assistance. Hope she's ok :)

Is there debris under the area? Hard to tell on the pic...and so didn't see the 3week old chick part..pretty young...maybe pasty butt if he/shes got the crusty debris there

No pasty butt. Is in with 12 other chicks, but not getting picked on much if at all from what I can tell. This morning I tried honey on it, tried to push it back in, and pooped when I tried to push it back in....was normal poop. Will try again in a little bit. I'll probably grab some preperationH or something at the store and try that. Yesterday it was just the top half, and today it's the whole vent.

Seems young to have it to me as well, which is what has me so confused.

Agreed...def young and not laying for the vent issue... The textbook says the oil or PrepH (which has the nice lidocaine for pain relief if any) can help most chick booty issues :)...glad the poop looks good tho...nd it really doesn't look that red or irritated so that's good too:)

I was under the impression that the "caine" family was toxic to chickens......I see all over the place not to use any ointments with pain relief because of the "caine" ingredients?????
