This may sound like a rlly silly question but I see people using these face emoticons and I was wondering how to people get them and use them?

Do you mean the BYC ones?

( :) :( :D ;) etc.)

I'm in BBCode editor mode and I see them down the right-hand side of the box when I'm typing a reply. In BBCode you can select them there or just type in the code (as in : ) without the space for :))

On Rich Text editor (which is the default - I'm probably just weird for using the other one ) there's a smiley face on the bar of icons across the top of the reply box - click on that and it gives you the selection of BYC smileys which you can click on and insert.

(Just as an aside, to switch between BBCode and Rich Text click on "Preferences" which is a little way above the reply box, under the thread.)

But yes, there are lots more available on other websites, you can get codes for them quite easily.

Hi there!

This is how it looks on my screen (click on each picture to enlarge):

So you click on this little smiley face guy first...

...then this window pops up. You can click on any of the emoticons you wish to use.
Once you do...

...the pop-up will disappear and the emoticon you selected will appear in your reply box!

If you accidentally hit the face, or maybe if you can't see an emoticon you like or you've changed your mind about using one in your post, you can just hit the 'Esc' key and it closes the pop-up window for you to go back to regular browsing. Hope that helped!

To use any emoticons from other sites, you can just insert them into a post as if they were a regular image file. Which they technically are! I can also take screen shots of that, if you'd like.

I'm not sure what emoji is, but a lot of emoticon sits give you a code or URL to copy into forum posts. Take the URL (if the site doesn't give it to you, right click on the smiley and use "Copy image location") and insert it in the post as you would a picture. (Using the Insert Image thingy and putting the URL in.)
