We started on the coop!!! My first batch of chickies will have a new home soon!! :D
Our landlord gave us the go-ahead on fixing up the old summer kitchen on our property and is letting us turn it into a chicken coop! :) The roof was in terrible shape so we started tearing it off today! I can't wait until it's done!! :D
Now, if it could stop snowing on us that would be great...

Also, I was wondering if anyone had any tips on replacing the roof. We are planning on going with a lean-to style roof and shortening the building a little bit. This is our first big project together! I have a feeling the tear down will be the easiest part...

I think I would have just put some metal roofing on it and leave it the same size, nice big space once you get it all cleaned up, just add a nice run and a paint job.Im sure the landlord will appreciate the fix up especially if it doesn't cost him a dime.

If it was me, I wouldn't shorten the building. Best to stay with the original wall structure and "footprint" or you'll end up with a huge and complicated mess!! Simple is usually best when it comes to construction fixes. Replace the rafters, replace roofing material, paint and admire your new chicken coop.

Please also address the loose bricks on the chimney sooner rather than later. I.e., take them down before they bean you!!

Best of luck with your project!!
