My chicken may have a prolapsed vent. I've tried everything (bath, salt water soak, neosporin, and pushing it back in several times) nothing works. My chicken appears to be in pain and is one of my favorites. What should I do?!!

She needs to see a vet to have a purse string sewn in.

In the meantime keep her in a very dark area. You can try some Preparation H hemorrhoid cream without pain reliever (no -caine ingredients) to try to shrink the tissues. You can also try applying some ice to the area. That may relieve some of the swelling enough to put the tissues back in place.

Thank you so much...she's in a box with ice under her butt.will she be okay without going to the vet? And when she tries to poop there is dried poop I can see that won't come out.

You could try giving her some extra calcium in the form of tums or calcium tablets(break into pieces and give orally) or even liquid calcium. Calcium helps muscles contract.I know in other animals a calcium deficiency can lead to prolapse issues. You can also bandage her to keep prolapse in,here is a link explaining how to bandage.

Scroll down to prolapse.
