So I just received some Sebastopol hatching eggs I picked up from the post office on Sunday. The came all the way from California to Vermont and seemed to be packaged very well, but upon first inspection they appear to have rolling air cells. They were laid down instead of air cells up in the box.
I was hoping the would only have some wonky saddle shape cells like other shipped eggs I've hatched before but nope...So I let them sit 24 hours air cell up and checked to see if the cells had reattached and another big fat NOPE greeted me. I didn't want to wait much longer because I have some duck eggs I want to incubate with them so I've placed them in my incubator pointy end down, however I am only using a Mini Advanced to incubate and the top can close when the eggs are completely vertical. Instead, I have positioned them with a bit of cushion to stand mostly vertical but at an angle since that's not possible. I want to wait another 24 hours without turning them and hopefully they will re-attach and then I can start turning on day 2.
Is that going to be okay to do with these guys? If the air cells reattach can I lay them down so I can turn them normally? Or do I have to incubate them like this the entire time? If so, would I just flip the angle they are at with the air cell always up for "turning"? I have always laid down to incubate so this is going to be uncharted territory for me...any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
