Chicken lays her head over 90 degrees when trying to look at me--new behavior.

Thanks for the replies. I got some poultry vitamins, and I cooked her an egg (but we are out of tuna). Hoping she improves. No hope for reuniting her with the flock in this condition! :( She and a friend went home with us to my parents' house over Christmas, and now we are going out of town again and taking her and her friend with us (for chicken-happiness reasons!) I'm $50 into taking care of her! :) She's not a pet, but I also feel an obligation to try to help her out if I can short of surgery, vet visits, etc. As long as she's eating and drinking and behaving normally aside from the spooky head movements, (She also opens her mouth really wide) I am going to keep trying. How would I know about Marek's?

She seems better this afternoon. I don't know if it's my imagination or if such quick improvement (less than 24 hours) is possible.

My hypothesis for this illness is that she a. doesn't have Marek's because she doesn't have other symptoms b. doesn't have brain damage because the incident that could have caused the brain damage (pecking that tore off half her comb) happened several weeks before the wry neck appeared, and c. the wry neck was caused by malnutrition brought on by coccidiosis infection, which I have treated. I hope she continues to improve. We drove down the interstate today to our house with two chickens, a dachshund, and two children in the car. I'm glad we weren't pulled over by the police! My husband says it is ridiculous :)
