BYC Café

We are logging some valuable trees on our country property before we put it up for sale. I hate it, but last time we sold our farm, the people that bought it, clear cut the place.
I know exactly what you mean. You should get the money for those trees. What kind are they?

It was 31 today with strong winds when I took the dogs out. I bundled Piper in her 2 coats. When we were finishing up the run and I didn't see her with Bella, I looked around and noticed her in the brush at the edge of the field looking at me. I called her and she took a step or 2 forward then backed up and stood there just looking at me. I called her one more time and she did it again and that is when I was certain she was stuck.

When I got to her, she had a thick thorn branch hooked into her outer coat and she wasn't strong enough to pull out of its grip. I'd like to think she won't do that again, but I'm actually quite sure that she will.

Good Morning,

Coffee is ready, not interested in drinking it...too hot of a weather. I sneeze and sneeze away..something in the air this morning.

Got screaming chickens this morning and last night I started to give my sick hen Mint 2 drops of CBD oil for pain relief, she was on meloxicam long enough. She spitted a lash egg at the size of a teaspoon full. She pooped so much liquid throughout the night. She seems to be feeling better this morning, monitoring closely.

@CapricornFarm I hope you like the city. What do you do with those trees you harvest?

Have a lovely day
We sell them to buyers, who ship them overseas!

I found that anything that build from real timber is very expensive.
A lot of stuff are build from pressed wood and these don't last.
I hate those pressed wood things. Going to buy more antique furniture.

Ditto. When Dave and I bought our house we started back at square one and when it came time to purchase furniture we went to a local store that worked with Amish families and we bought all solid oak furniture. Nothing laminated. I'll have it for the rest of my life.

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready to brew.

I have another fasted blood draw this morning but it's not until 10 so I have to wait. I won't brew it because I couldn't bare to smell it and not drink it.

The draw today is in Ithaca so the plan is to bring my coffee and breakfast to eat in the car afterwards then go hike in one of the many gorgeous gorges in Ithaca. That is what they have on all the bumper stickers they sell: Ithaca is Gorges

Poplar, walnut, sycamore. We do get money, some is paid to the guy who harvests them.
Many years ago, I came home from the store to find a guy walking up our back hill. He waved, and was panting from the exertion, so I didn't feel threatened. He stopped, and said, "Wow, that's some hill. (pant pant) We're cutting some of the trees on the property (pant pant) north of yours, and I see a couple of really great oaks just over the property line on your property. (pant pant) I was wondering if you'd sell them."

We were really short of cash, and he was offering $1000 for 2 large red oak trees. I called hubby, and he reluctantly agreed, and asked if they could fell a couple of huge standing dead ones...? as part of the deal. (Those were bigger than hubby could bring down.) They agreed, so it worked out well.

Hubby didn't like the mess left behind, though. They didn't take the tops, just left them where they fell. So we got cash for the trees, a couple of big trees down for firewood, and the tops of the trees they left, which was also a lot of firewood.
