I have a light Brahma roo who decided he'd challenge my tom for the turkey hens. He stuck his head through the gate and is lucky that the turkey considered him an idiot and let him off easy.
A couple weeks later I moved the tom to the chicken coop and the roo challenged him again. The roo now heads the other direction, the backup roo is allowed to crow, and the turkey tom mounts the chickens (doesn't really do anything, just makes them go flat). I may end up with broad breasted red sex links...
That's funny!!!!![]()
My Partridge Chanticler picked a fight with JJ. It was so funny. they would hit chests and then the rooster would be under the turkeys legs, the turkey could not see him and was turning in circles to find the rooster. Roosters and turkeys fight differently, or mine do, so no one gets hurt and no real blows are struck...
BUT all my guys seem to be tougher when there is a good secure fence between the adversaries...
BTW refill time...
My toms are the peace keepers. No one is allowed to fight but them. Any squawing brings the big boys running. They literally step on anyone who gets out of line until they either squirm loose or stop squirming & the tom lifts his foot to stomp & they take off running.
