I just found a California Quail breeder that has one male! :D I just need some basic care and any special needs for a California Quail like:

Should I build an aviary or a coop?

What kind of feed should I give him?

Would he be okay without any other quail in his pen?

Do California Quail have special needs, like food or the size of the pen?

Will he need to be taken to the vet when I get him, for shots or a check up?

Where should I go to get a game bird license in Texas, if I even need one?

Thank you if you can help me with these questions, I would really appreciate it!:yiipchick

For just a male, whatever you like. But if you do pair him up, I recommend a well planted aviary.

Adults prefer a more vegetarian diet. Give them bird seeds and green veggies.

He should be fine. In the wild, males outnumber females (females are sometimes lost through nest predation) and you'll sometimes find unpaired males calling for a potential mate.
