Hello!
I have a 18 week silver laced wyandotte and I came to check on them and her beak was all bloodied!
It looks like the top layer of the front beak had chipped off. It seems like she’s in pain and eats very carefully.
Is there anything I can do to help her? Will it grow back?
Noticed that there is a growth on one of my Silkie’s nose. I haven’t notice anything else from any of the flock. She seems fine. They do come out and free range for a couple hours a day. I put vetRX on it today 🤷🏼♀️
Anyone have a clue to what this could be?
Hello all! I have searched and searched and can’t seem to find anything on this. We have an adorable and sweet 4 month old Speckled Sussex and about a week ago we noticed this growth. At first I thought it was a giant tick! Then thought wart but now scared it might be a tumor of some kind...
I have a 7week old golden comet hen that has a chiped beak that was bleeding. This looks minor compared to the other ones I've seen here but I haven't found anything like this one. Is there anything I can do? I plan on spraying it with vetricin one more time an putting some nealsporn on there...
My poor ten week old Marmalade (aka Wonky Beak) was our special chic, head of security we used to say. Always hugely adventurous. Friendly and sweet, loved you fussy and stoking her. We first noticed her beak being crossed when she was about four weeks. I’d had a crossed beak chicken before so...
Hello people!
here’s an update on my poor girl.
Optimus’ beak is now swollen and looks as if her jaw is further unaligned. She’s still eating and drinking but like I said before, she can’t rip apart food very well.
I have had an incident before with bee where her beak became swollen and I...
Hello,
I’m new to this website but I’m looking for advice.
My Japanese quail recently injured her beak.
Her jaw is slightly twisted which has made it difficult and painful for her to rip apart food.
Thankfully she CAN eat and drink.
So I kept her inside for two days to keep a close eye on her...
Hello 👋
Can anyone give some advice for trimming beaks? I've had chickens for years, but this is the first time I've ever had one with a bit of an underbite. She seems to get along fine, I just don't want it to become advanced to where it affects her well being. TIA!
I’m receiving conflicting information and I’m honestly confused.
A normal Toulouse goose’s beak should be orange, persimmon seems to be the exact shade mine generally have.
I’ve read that if their bill turns yellow it’s a sign of jaundice, like in chickens when their comb turns yellow.
But...
I have had many a chicken, but this is a new one on me. I got 40 chicks and they all seemed normal and healthy. Then in about 2 weeks I noticed one of my Americanas bottom jaw was slightly ajar from the other one. I picked her up and moved it around and back under the beak but it just went back...
I just got some more chickens today and I noticed that one of them can't close her beak completely. She's younger than a year old. Do you think she will be okay since she's lived this long or is there a possibility that it could get worse? Does she need special help at all? This isn't her but...
My little cockerel has a very strange hole in his beak? I have no idea how it could’ve gotten there but could this possibly be deadly? A long while ago it almost looked like his beak was “peeling” in that same spot so we sprayed it with vetricyn and let him back out. The day he received his...
Someone I know got Pekin ducks a while ago, and I noticed that their ducks have differently shaped beaks.
Their ducks beak shape(photo is not of their duck):
My ducks beak shape:
Are these both normal Pekin duck beaks?
Hello, anyone tell me if this beak is hooked? She is a new addition to the flock and seems a little longer than our other bantams. She can eat greens well but not sure about seed and grit. Is it too long and should I trim?
Thankyou!
Yes I know the emoji is a swan. There's no goose!
Matilda Jane , my 3ish month old embden goose seems to be developing a big underbite and a slight crossbill. I didn't notice any deformity at all when I got her, but it seems to be getting worse.
Anyone else experience this? Is there a...
I have lavender orpington- bought from one of those famous bins at TSC. She's friendly and acts healthy. She's nowhere near the bottom of the pecking order, absolutely no signs of distress.
One thing sets her apart from the other birds- her comb color. It's grey. Her comb is grey. Her beak is...

Hi all,
I posted this thread a few weeks ago. https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/what-is-wrong-with-my-bos-beak.1320949/
It is about My Buff Orpington's beak. She cracked it or something. Well, this time, she did it again! But even worse! I'm not sure if it is hurting her or not. She...
I have an 18 week old lavender Orpington that seems to have a beak issue. I noticed it this morning not sure if it’s anything I should treat or worry about... not sure if one of my older girls got her yesterday before they went up last night? I have two flocks of hens who have separate coops and...
Today I noticed a shallow cut on my Buff Orpington's beak. It is near the nostrils but does NOT interfere with them or cause her any apparent discomfort or difficulty breathing. Not bleeding. It appears that she cut it while trying to get a bug throught the wire of her run as I've seen her do...
