I just noticed half part of my chicken beak is not smooth and it looks like it’s peeling. Does this mean he has vitamin deficiency?? Thanks for the help in advance! 🙏🏼
Hey there, Waffle is a salmon favorelle, 9 weeksish and she kind of distances herself from the other four girls. Theyre about nine weeks old. Her underbite is particularly bad and this is after my husband filed it. It seems like she eats wet mash OK but I have yet to see her pick up a single...
Rhode Island Red growing like a weed. 3.5 weeks now. Good natured. No issues but noticed this little bump. It's hard, located under bottom beak like where wattle would grow and on one side, her left, only. Does not ooze, although I touched, bot squeezed. Could not be dry Fowl Pox from what I've...
Has anyone seen this before? This poor little pullet (she is almost 11 weeks old) has this large swollen area under her beak. She is eating and drinking normally, but I am so worried about her. Anyone know what this is and how I should treat her?
I'm not sure how this happened and luckily no bleeding, but not only is the end of his beak missing, it is significantly cracked down both sides of his upper beak.
he is using it normally but I am worried it might fall apart, get further damaged.
what would be the best way of managing it? or...
Hi everyone,
Our Silkies are a month old and we recently noticed some of them have growths on their beaks. I've tried to search online, but can't seem to find what it is.
They seem to be eating/drinking OK, but since we're not experienced with chicken disease we want to learn whether there...
I have caught my roosters doing this a few times. They put their beaks together and stand there for over 5 minutes. They don't make noise or show any aggression. It is winter in Michigan so I'm not sure if they are cold? Bonding? Sleeping? Has anyone seen this?
Hello,
I have a hen that has been through ALOT in the past half year. She’s had worms, been rejected from her flock, and then attacked by a fox. Now she has a bacterial infection. She had stopped eating last week, so I took her to the vet. They gave me meds and told me to tube feed her. I did...
Can I ask your opinion on this beak? 🤔
It was not like this before. I know it's molting season & everything is out of whack, but is this a chip or something more serious? Is there anything I can do for him?
Sorry about picture quality. I was trying to get every angle & he wasn't having it! 😅
I walked into my backyard to find one of my hens fighting with a small mouse. From what I saw, my hen was winning and the mouse disappeared.
But looking closer I saw blood in my hens mouth and assumed it wasn’t hers. But as you can see in the picture she seemed to have broke her beak while...
okay so i have a 2 year old splash cochin and yesterday i was holding her and i noticed something weird in her mouth? it could be normal but its something ive never seen before so i just wanted to come on here and see if anyone knew what it could be, because it looks kinda sharp and out of...
New to BYC and have been lurking ehile I raise chickens for the first time. Very fulfilling experience so far. We have 4 black Australorp hens we call The March Sisters since they were hatched in March.
Lately I’ve been curious about one of their nares, we’ll call this one Amy. Amy is healthy...
My stepsister bought 9 chickens all with an extremely short beak. The fox killed 8 so I got the remaining chicken to put with my 3 pet chickens.
This chicken loves corn but is unable to eat it off the cob after I cooked it. All my chickens eat corn off the cob. I also gave them cucumber another...
This is the first time I have seen this in my flock. My roosters beak is dry and has this scab on it. None of the others in his flock have it. It does not appear to bother him. He has minimal dry skin and feather loss on his neck, too. Any ideas what it could be and how should I treat it?
Thanks!
First time chicken owner. This girl here is 5 months old and I don't spend a lot of time with them bc of work and school but while giving them treats I noticed something odd about her beak. She eats/drinks/scavenges just fine. As far as I've witnessed, there's never been fighting or aggression...
Came outside this morning and three of my girls have bloody or broken weeks. I’m assuming they were trying to get something on the other side of the fence, what can I do? Should I separate them so they don’t get picked? Thank you!!
im more concerned about the hen because she’s not active. the rooster is still active, just has had a lump on his face for the past couple days. he’s acting as normal. but the hen isnt moving, and the way shes standing almost looks like a tom’s strut. shes very lethargic and isnt eating much...
Hi! This might be a silly question. Quick background: I'm a (very) new hen mom and have been doing all the research and right (to me!) things. Anyway, picked up my little baby banties today from the post office--legit drove like Cruella DeVille to get them, I was so excited--and so far everyone...
