I am candling brown eggs on day 7 and I can barely see anything at all.
I think I can see veins and there is 100% air sac development but it's a very dark yolk. I can see maybe some dark spots where development would be but why are the yolks so dark at this stage?
No blood ring etc just very...
Quick backstory. We got 2 new chicks last week and unfortunately we lost one, when my family went back to buy another (while I was in class) the farmer apparently "threw in an extra one for free". Already knew it'd likely be a rooster when I heard that, but I also have no idea what the breed is...
We got this little girl on May 19, 2020 from Murray McMurray Hatchery in a group of assorted layers. Can anybody help me identify her breed?
These pics were taken, 05/19/2020 when she was about 1-3 days old. She's quite the sprightly little thing, very active, and bossy, LOL!
Thank you.😊
Chicken newbie here.
Flock of six have all been sneezing, occasionally with clear discharge from nostrils. Otherwise eating and drinking well (not laying yet).

This breed is cold hearty, and very predator savvy. They forage all day, enough that it considerably lowers the cost of feeding them if they have enough pasture ground.
So today I went to a poultry fare for the second time and decided to buy a rooster and more hens. I currently have 9 hens and a rooster. The guy said the rooster would be mature enough for breeding after Christmas. I came home and introduced him to my existing 6 hens and he was shivering and the...
My rescue Muscovy drake which is about a year old has recently become super ugly. Just honest here. His feathers went black to brown, and they’re falling off at an insane rate. He seems fine, he drinks and eats and is aggressive as usual.
His bottom feathers are still nice and black.
He has a...
Hi, a couple of months ago a friend told my family and me about a chicken that was lingering in her back yard for a couple of years. She told us the previous owner of the chicken passed away. Since we already had a flock of chickens we decided to pick the rooster up. He was scared and hard to...
