Hatched on 5/6 from a fertilized egg I received from a local farm near Indiana Dunes. The chicks are barnyard mix, likely with Barred Rock in their lineage. All parent birds are organically fed and free-ranged daily. Healthy and active, currently indoors under proper heat and care...

Hi everyone, I am new to this chicken "thang" and am having a dilemma I wasn't expecting. I have been taking my 7 and 8 week chicks out to their coop for the day so they can get excercise and get used to their coop and then bringing them in at night until we could finish predator proofing the...

What kind of chick food do you use?

Just wondering. Which one do you use for feeding your new baby chicks. Medicated or Non-Medicated and why? I personally use Medicated because I find my chickens grow much healthier and I rarely have a sick chicken. (Been raising chickens for 4 years now)

Adding A Cord Notch To A Vevor 25L Incubator, HELP!

My trusty ReptiPro 6000 died, and the ReptiPro company is no more, I guess. I ordered a new Vevor 25L incubator, which is basically the same thing. But. Duccle’s porcelain’s and Millie’s

I know they are very young still approx 3 weeks old but I noticed 2 are noticeably larger than the other 3. Has anyone that raised these before noticed that the larger ones were roosters ? I’m hoping to have 2 roosters anyways so it won’t be a bad thing! The tail also looks bigger already .

Hi everyone, we were told this was a Golden Comet. I have my doubts. What is this baby? Also is it able to be sexed at this age?

Will baby chicks stay with mama?

I have a coop that will contain my hens but not their chicks. I'm afraid they're going to slip through the welded wire fencing and run off. Right now they're sticking close to mama hen. Do I need to pull the chicks out and raise them separately or will they stick with mama until they are pullets?

    Just about 4 weeks old.

Our babies are about 4 weeks old. They will be going out in the run with their brooder box and heater. When can they eat random stuff other than chick feed? We have Construction sand in the run do they need grit? And when can they get treats and fruits and veggies. Thank you
