Hi everyone!
I was recently given two males which appear to be young. I don’t have any information on them. They seem to be friendly so far and will let you hold them if caught. I’m keeping them separated from my hens for now. The gray one just started crowing since I’ve had him.
I’m curious...
i’ve got two blue english orp chicks in my brooder. we hatched most of our own eggs this year but picked these up at the farm store along with some leghorns.. i think we’re approaching 3-4 wks so a bit early BUT these two look so different that i’m just sure the darker chick is a cockerel.. much...
Here is a four week old lavender Cochin. The tail feathers aren’t coming in like other chicks. The comb is larger in comparison. The legs seems to be thicker. This chick tends to square up to other chicks more so than anyone else. Do I have a cockerel on my hands or is there still a possibility...
I’m suspecting two of my supposed pullets could be roosters. Could anyone help me?! They are almost eight weeks old. Blue jersey giant and buff Orpington
This is my first time raising a cockerel with my egg hens because one of the lavender orpingtons turned out to be a cockerel. They are all five weeks old and from what I can tell, he is the only cockerel.
He is honestly starting to be a jerk? He's chasing quite a few of the girls around, but...
Mostly black feathering with brown stripes in the wing and neck, gray legs (no feathers and four toes), pink-ish skin around the eyes and fluffer head!
West Central Indiana
25 week old Buff Brahma, heritage breed. Local breeder hatching eggs hatched Aug 1, 2024.
Raised under hens.
Needs a new coop or stew
(I do not have anything to process nor do I know how yet!) I have posted on FB with no bites! He's a pretty and big boy! Feet are dirty...
Hi all,
Thought I’d make a wee post to show off the cockerel I picked up recently - I’m sure he’s a bit of a mutt but I know he’s a bantam of some sort (he’s much smaller than all the hens). I was thinking he could be part silkie because of his feather texture but then again he doesn’t have the...
Got this baby today, was told she’s a pullet and just want everyone’s opinion, I’ve never had this breed before, although I have had Cemanis they are different.
What do you think about this one; male or female Blue Laced Red Wyandotte? The colors vary and the rose comb is hard to tell, so I’m not sure.
Hatched Dec 16th at Meyers. The order was supposed to be all female but found two boys so far.
Howdee from snow covered Vermont. Got 70 female chicks from Meyers Hatched Dec 16. A few roos snuck through. Definitely one golden cuckoo Maran and one blue laced red wyandotte are male. What do you think about this one?
Hi there. Could anyone tell me which cockerel exhibits more show quality? Al be it they are at different ages. The two at the top are brothers and the other one is my personal which I’m thinking of getting rid of for one of the brothers. TIA.
I have 2 very handsome chamois Spitzhauben cockerels I need to rehome near Des Moines, Iowa. I got 4 chicks and 3 turned out to be male, plus I already have an older roo and not nearly enough ladies to go around! They are 6 months old today and other than jockeying for position, they’ve been...
I am looking to re-home my Plymouth Rock hybrid cockerel (his name is Paulie Jr). I have attached some pictures of him for reference. I am willing to give him away for free as long as he goes to a home where he will be safe and happy.
He is 8 months old. He is a medium size cockerel (his father...
I am still learning. I actually have a question. Do you think this cockerel/roo [5 weeks old] is considered a Cuckoo based on the photos? Many thanks in the advance!
I am including the 5 weeks old vs day 1 old photos just in case if you want to take a look.
Hi all,
I have 6 purebred Wyandotte, we’re trying to figure out which are Pullets and which are Cockerels.
The going theory is photos 1,2,4 are Cockerals and the Other 3 are Pullets
Thanks everyone
In May I hatched out an order of eggs that I did not want. I have kept them because I put in the effort to hatch them. This one, I thought was a Wyandotte because of the rose comb (foundation as a chick was the rose comb), but this and the body structure is not something I am familiar with and...
Available in St Louis, Missouri area. I can deliver to Metro East or Southeast Missouri areas. He’s from Greenfire Farms Gold Spitzhauben line. These are fun, curious chickens. They have been handled ever day since birth. They are a Swiss breed. Very good in cold weather and hot, humid weather...
These are my two 8-9 week old chicks that I’m starting to worry about. One of them (at least) is crowing in the mornings. Can you tell which is a cockerel? The tan chick is a Buff Orpington. Not sure about the black one.
