So long story short-
As we move, We’ll be turning a pretty big shed into a temporary mini chicken-palace!
However, we’ll be a little bit away from the flock until we’re able to get a proper permanent coop set up with proper surveillance on them.
I was wondering if anyone knows if there’s such...
We want to get an automatic door for our coop so that our girls are safe and tucked away when the sun goes down, we get home from work after dark and want them to be safe from the coyotes.
Ideally we have one that runs on a timer we could set for 7am and 5:30pm, and then as the seasons change...
We are a young family living in Central Victoria, Australia. My husband and I each grew up with chickens so have been keen for our children to share that experience. With the lockdown we suddenly found ourselves with free weekends at home and decided it was the perfect project for us all to do...

Our chicken coop has a horizontal pop door to the run for the chickens. Problem is I have to go inside the run and open their door to let them out to the run in the mornings. Is there an automatic chicken door that works horizontally vs. Vertically? I've been looking but having problems...
I searched, but failed. What is best size for the chicken door in a home built coop?
One chicken at a time or better with double doors?
I did finalize on a sliding door. What do you prefer and why? The automated doors intrigued me is the reason I went sliding.
Cheers,
I started feeling bad that we have not been getting up as early now that it is summer break and our son is not going to school. I had found plenty of plans for horizontal or vertical sliding doors, but not much for swing doors. Luckily (sort of) I had a bout of insomnia that led to scavenging...
The red wire from the batery box has come lose. The black wire is in slot '1A' so I put the red one into '1B' but the batterys became very hot so I'm assuming that isn't right? Does anyone know where the red wire is supposed to be?
