we are new to Guinea hens and just received 15 keets two days ago. 1 is very lethargic today -just cuddles in my hand. I can’t get her to eat or drink and she struggled to get her last poop out.
They have heat lamp and fresh water and food plus ground carrots and celery
Appreciate any help.
Hi all, just curious with white keets, what they typically feather out as an adult? Lavender or white? From what I examined, all 4 are solid white, so my guess is they will stay white. But I’ve never had white guineas from keets so I have no real clue.
Thanks!
Hello, so I made a post when I got these keets, and had no idea how old they are. Never raised guinea fowl before.
I've had these since September 8th, and they looked about a week old maybe when I got them...maybe 2 weeks? Now they've gotten big, and am not sure if their exact age. What do y'all...
I am trying to figure out what color our 2 grey 🤷♀️ keets are. Are they really just grey or lavender? What color will they been when grown? There are our first guineas keets. They are almost 5 weeks old. We have 2 grey and 2 white.
We had a bunch of guinea keets hatch last week. One needed assistance as it wasn't in the proper position, but it came out looking normal. Yesterday we noticed it was seeming pretty weak and getting nocked around by the older keets, so we separated it with one other younger keet in a smaller...
One of my 2 week old guinea keets fell from about 2 to 3 feet while I was transferring them to a warmer spot. He landed on his belly and was initially fine, but had trouble standing.
He was on his side kicking his legs, but I picked him up and he's now sitting under my hand. I'm worried that he...
Good Afternoon!
I need some Guinea Fowl around 2-5 months old for my grandfather. They will be free range. Does anybody have any they want to get rid of or know anyone who does in Northeast TN?
Thank you all so much!
HElp! The weatherman is predicting a low of 9 degrees tomorrow night. I have 7 adult guineas. One is a hen with 11 keets that are just two weeks old tomorrow. I can close the door on my coop. I am wondering if I should put a heat lamp on the ceiling in my coop? The hen has been keeping...
Hello everyone! I am coming to you all from the ( currently hotter than the pits of hades) Nw corner of Ga. I currently have a handful of chicks, ducklings, and more recently keets who are brooding in a modified chainlink dog run. Every thing has been going very smoothly with this set up so far...
After incubating for my first time, I’m proud to say that ALL OF THEM HATCHED! And they are all doing so well! I’m still in shock that beginner me was able to do it. Thank you Bob (R2elk) for helping me so much!
Now I’m curious to know what colours they are! Especially with the darker ones. I...
hi,
Long story short, I live in rural PA where ticks are a HUGE problem. We have free range chickens (9 after recent predators), and two broody hens. So I had the maybe not so bright idea to get my hands on some guinea hatching eggs and separated the girls into their own coops and placed...
Hi BYC Community,
My name is Jacqui Myers and I am new to chickens. I currently have fifteen 16-week old chickens and twenty-four 9-week old Guineas. I have a Silkie, a few Rhode Island Reds, some Lace Wyandotte’s, a California Gray, a Light Brahma, a few Bantams, and the rest I think are a mix...
So usually i keep my guineas and chicks playing around in my room and one of the guineas ate hair so i can see the rest of the hair out of her mouth..
I go in panic mode i tried to pull the hair out but its stuck as i got harder the keet would freak out it seems like its getting hurt so i tried...
We have 4 guinea keets that we got beginning of June.. they are probably about 6-8 weeks old now.. they’re already outside in the coop with the hens and young turkeys as we thought they would learn to roost in the coop at night with the other birds..as were rounding up our free range chickens...
I took a “family” of 1 chick and 4 guinea keets, as well as the hen momma raising them. They had been with an Amish boy who let them all run around together in a barn. Rough guess is they are all now about 4 weeks old (minus Mom of course). She takes beautiful care of them and they all seem...
I am attempting to integrate 4 keets, about 1/2 the size of the adult Guinea hen, into a flock of 9 hens, 1 rooster, and 1 adult Guinea. The rooster keeps attempting to mount the adolescences and beating them up. I don’t know what to do so if any one has any suggestions that would be nice.
I now have 23 chickens!: 8 Rhode Island Reds, 2 Jubilee Orpingtons, 4 Lavender Orps, 2 Buff Orps, 2 Black Mottled Orps, 1 possible Blue Orp , 1 possible Splash Orp , 1 Candy Corn Polish, 1 Blue Jubilee, and 1 unknown (possibly a Brabanter or Houdans cross). 3 are adults, 9 are 5 weeks old, 5 are...
My husband and I would like to add guineas to our hobby farm, but can not find any locally. I can order keets online, but I have yet to find a site that allows you to order less than 30 at a time! We do not want or need that many. I currently have 30 chickens, and 18 baby chicks on the way. Any...
Hi, I've been raising Guineas for the past 10 years and have stumbled upon an issue with this years hatch (so far).
I have two keets that for some unknown reason, are acting sickly. They are from a batch of 15 that hatch on varied days due to another hen laying in the brood hen's nest. The...
