    9 Week Old Rooster(s) dying

First of all, thank you to all who reply. I am fairly new at raising chickens from birth (I purchased my "older" chickens at 6 months old). Anyhow, at the end of January I received a shipment of chicks, which included 7 pullets (various breeds, one Jersey Giant Rooster as well as other white...

    Jersey Giant chicks

I have 3 chicks that are about 1 week old. I got Jersey Giants because of their docile and friendly demeanor. The chicks are so skiddish and frightened all the time. Not what I was used to with my Wyandottes and New Hampshires. Is this normal? Really worried I have made the wrong decision.

Why are Jersey Giants a rare breed?

I have one black jersey giant pullet. She is so adorable. I know professional and hobby farmers who insist on this breed being very robust, very hardy, very docile pets, layers of very very large brown eggs and excellent meat birds. Why are they so rare?

    Straight run Jersey Giant chicks

Hello everyone! I unfortunately have to re-home more chickens (I feel like that's all I've been doing these days :hit). These chicks weren't planned, and as a result, I'm having some issues with them. They aren't mixing well with my very young chicks. They're also creating lot of dust, which is...

    Aggressive roo

My Red Ranger rooster was the sweetest chick but at 7 or 8 weeks he turned into the roo from hell. I used to enjoy hanging out with my backyard peeps while I did outdoor chores but now I have to carry a broom to hold him away from me. The challenge is to protect myself without hurting him. I...

    Hello again!

Finally got chickens again! Had to settle in some place before we could build a great coop. Right now 5 girls are stealing my heart: Kiri, a speckled Sussex; Charlotte, a light Brahman; Tockwotten, a jersey Giant; Regina, a partridge Cochin and Penelope, a blue Andalusian. We got these girls at...
