We have 11 of these precious little balls of fluff! They are a straight run barnyard mix of Marans/Leghorn (Dad) and Buff Orpington (Mom) or Easter Eggers (Mom). They were born on Friday 5/3 and Saturday 5/4.
We are in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Pickup only
bought this chick from TSC listed as a “olive egger pullet” from week one I’ve been thinking it’s a cockerel due to lack of tail feathers and size of comb. Chick is now three weeks old. Any guesses what breeds were crossed to make him? What about sex?
The rest of the gals I'm confident in, but these two are confounding me. My first batch I'm having to figure out!
I'm worried that their feathers are starting to look so pointy around the neck? But they are my only two olives and they look so similar I can't tell if they are both roo's or if...
We have two Roos in need of rehoming (we hatched them as chicks and have too make roosters)! They are fibro olive eggers - dad is all black and mom is mostly black with some brown neck feathers. They are gorgeous Roos with some beautiful speckling! Not aggressive and still young! Asking $20 each...
Easter Eggers are not a standardised and recognised chicken breed, but they are mixed crossbred X chickens created in barnyards by hobby farmers all around the world.
They carry the gene of the blue and green egg shell. This means that breed like rumpless araucanas, crested british araucanas...
This is my baby Loretta Lynn, I have bonded with her from the begginging. When we first bought her and Patsy Cline her sister were labeled Olive eggers. I have looked up plenty picture and Information but all the olive egger pictures on Google look different. Is she a olive egger, are there...
Hello peeps, I have a genetics question. I crossed a blue roo with my olive egger who is half cuckoo maran, therefore she has the barring gene and will give sexed off springs that are barred, only males will be barred. My question is, will all chicks have a dot on the top of the head or only...
In reading various sources about creating green & olive colored egg layers I have noted that the WTB’s are mentioned far less frequently in comparison to the CCL. Am I right or is my perception skewed? And if I’m right, why? The WTB doesn’t seem as popular to own simply as a blue egg producer...

All 11 (I had a 100% hatch rate!) are happily in the brooder.
I know who some of these chicks are, but some of them I am guessing on because they hatched overnight.
In egg #...
My hen that I hatched out last summer just laid this egg. She is a cross between my barnevelder hen and my Easter Egger rooster. Has anyone seen disoriented speckling like this? And will she continue to lay eggs like this? 🥰 love how cool it looks and am hoping it does.
I've been around small scale chicken flocks my whole life. My grandma had chickens, my mom had chickens, and I've had a flock of around a dozen for the past 5 years. This year I'm upscaling and doing things differently.
I currently have 5 roosters, 35 hens, and one pekin duck hen.
I have...

So, I bred some olive eggers this past year and decided to keep one. She's turned out to be a bit cracked-in-the-head. Instead of using the semi-private nest boxes everyone else is content to use (4 nest boxes ought to be enough for 8 laying hens, at least, that's what I thought), she has...
Hello!
So my 2 Golden Laced Wyandotte pullets are 22 weeks old and their combs and wattles are brightly red, no squatting yet. How old were yours when they began laying?
Also, my 2 Olive Egger pullets are also 22 weeks old and same, scenario, red combs and wattles no squatting yet. How old...
Hi there! We are in Los Angeles and needing to rehome a 10 week old Olive Egger. She is one of five in our flock and is not integrating into the group.
