My Muscovy Duck made a nest on the roof over the garage. Eggs should hatch within the next few weeks. When hatchlings try to leave the roof they could land on a concrete driveway. Should I remove the eggs (I cannot incubate them) so they never hatch? Won’t this be traumatic to the duck? Or let...
How much of a roof overhang is adequate to prevent rain from getting in the coop through the small chicken door? Someone I know who has a coop said 36”. That seems excessive to me.

I converted an old shed into a chicken coop. The interior is 4' deep and 7' wide with a sloping roof. The roof is taller on the front where the people door is located, and slopes down toward the back, where the chicken door was installed...
We have an open top coop that will have the roosting area covered in the winter. There is a roof or clear cover over the open top to block rain and wild animal waste from falling into the coup area. Do you think that this is ok? We live in Southern California.
