Ever since I've had my rooster since a little chick his tail has been like this, he's never been injured nor showed signs of any illness. He's always super friendly and normal upbeaty, nothing ever wrong. Just wondering why his tail might be down like that?
I have a SGE with what looks like a weird, Lightning McQueen looking dual tail feather thing going on. None of her other flock members have this. Normal or no?
Hey folks! I have 4 three month old pullets that I bought 2 weeks ago. Its a small flock of hens with 2 ISA Brown and 2 Azur. In the last week I noticed that the Brown's have been Pecking at the Azur's tail feathers. They don't seem to mind at all but their tail feathers are balding. They don't...
I’m pretty sure this 6 week old chick is a roo. I’ve noticed this little puff of feathers at the end of their tail that the other chicks don’t have. Does this have a name? Or a way to describe it?
I have 2 silkie roosters they both are missing ALL their tail feathers. What could cause this? What should I do for it?
Pests? Plucking? I’m confused! I inspected all the birds today. Some had poop on their butts. No signs of lice eggs. Some girls have torn feathers but I believe it’s from the...
One of my four lavenders has the shredded tail. I think she's the prettiest of the bunch. I actually prefer the fluffy tail. It makes her look like she's wearing petticoats. However, I have seen this referenced as "bad feathers." Is the so called "shredder gene" really such a bad thing?? Is it...
I have a 5 month old Barred Rock Roo, which I bought from TSC.
He has developed well…Just no impressive tail feathers yet!
Will he ever grow a typical roo tail?

These two I call the twins. Got them together and haven’t quite determined their personalities yet. BUT, what’s with the difference tail feathers? One is kinda looking like roo’s tail feather (curved) while other seems like all the other pulleys? She doesn’t have a larger comb or the saddle...
Hi, so I’m a little concerned about my girl, she’s a 5 month old buff Orpington and I’ve noticed she’s had little black mold-looking specs on a few of her tail feathers. She’s an indoor chicken and I clean her coop daily so it’s always clean and dry. I use cedar wood shavings now that she’s...
I have three polish roosters. There is a black one, a brown one, and the other is buff laced. They are all the same age and they were raised together. The buff laced one never fought or messed around with the other rooster and never messed with the hens. Just recently the buff laced one was...
hello - I am a proud new owner of four hens! I’m trying to figure out breeds and the black one — I can’t tell if it’s a hen or a roo?? thanks in advance!
hey everyone!
A few months ago my 8 year old female Cayuga developed a curl in her tail feather that made her look like a male duck. She has been acting completely normal so I wasn’t too worried about it and was hoping it go away after her next molt. Instead she actually developed a second curl...
I just picked up my new boy a few days ago. I'm new to chickens, mostly I've done ducks in the past, so trying to place this guy to a breed has been a challenge; didn't know there were so many chicken breeds. I thought he might have been a rock since he's black and white speckled but when I...
This is Debbie, my roughly 10 week old pullet. Sometimes I catch her "tucking" her tail feathers. It is very odd as she is the only one in the flock who does it often, although I have caught one other doing it a few times, but not as bad as she does. She doesn't seem to be in fear or distress...
Dear all,
My pigeon (Male) lost its tail when one of my friend tried to catch him, there was no blood. How much time it will take to grow tail feather back.
Can that pigeon mate and breed while not having tail feather.
Thanks
