Shari, thanks so much for checking. A couple things if you don't mind:

1) If the problem comes up again could you send me some screen shots of before / after?
2) Could you try to duplicate in IE to see if it is just limited to FF? If it is just in FF, please let me know what version you are using.

Thanks much!

Hi Nifty,

This has turned into much more of an exercise in frustration that I could have envisioned.

In regards to grabbing screenshots, the little "box" for the editor doesn't allow enough visible space to grab a decent screenshot.

Trying to be logged in twice to BYC (two different browsers) creates additional problems with the editor. Simply updating each, doesn't really get a true update.

I've sent you an e-mail regarding how tables are now behaving. I'm more inclined to believe it's an editor issue, having used this kind of editor previously.

Is there any way that those of us who work in html can directly import the simple html? I can understand not wanting us to add various kinds of scripts, but this thing is limiting, confusing... and doesn't truly update as it should.

Thanks,
Shari

Shari,

Sorry you're having a hard time. I respect what you're doing as you obviously have more HTML / Web experience than most.

Please keep in mind this is still in an Alpha/Beta mode and may not support some of the more robust editing, but for the most part supports 90% of what most members will need / want to do. With this said, I'll continue to look at these issues with my programmer's help and see what can be done to resolve them.

You should be able to enter HTML directly into the code of the page by clicking the "HTML" link at the top of the editor to "Edit HTML source".

Hi Nifty,

I've resorted to doing that. However, for whatever reason, the upgrades are not showing up.

For example, within one of my tables, there is a huge amount of white space. This was somehow created when I attempted to bring a my tables back into line on the left. I thought this was a browser issue, however I've seen it in both IE 7.0 and FF 2.0.0.4.

I used the solution of defining table row height and still was not able to eliminate the extra "white space" which doesn't appear to be filled with any kind of data.

I remember a few years ago, I worked with an editor for space that was embedded within a page and it seems to me we had similar issues. I know that when I work in the "html mode" with this editor it uses a ton of "div" tags.

I think with that one, it had something to do with cookies and/or removing (cut) the copy, close the editor and program and re-open and paste again.

Will continue to search for a resolution,
Shari

Shari,

Do you have your complete design already in another editor the way you want it? If yes, please email me the html file so I can play with it and compare it to what you've got on your current site.

Hi Nifty,

I don't have the whole site laid out in another editor... can get it done within the week though.

I'll e-mail it to you just as soon as I've got at least the main elements. Adding additional text within tables shouldn't cause anything to break.

Thanks,
Shari

Nifty,

Here's a follow up for you. I'm posting here, so other's who may have the same issue can follow along.

I copied the html code from the "edit your page" to an editor called "Crimson Editor".

For whatever reason, I encountered the same issue... tables not lining up correctly. They were acting like "nested tables" within a single table row... but I couldn't see any code errors. They were supposed to be nested, but within rows, not cells.

In frustration, I chose to open my faorite editor... EditPlus. Again, the same issue.

My solution was to create a whole new layout. This time, no nested tables. I deleted the coding from the TinyMce editor and copied/pasted the coding from my editor.

Aside from some small "line feed" or "line break" issues, it looks pretty good.

Also, when I return to edit the page, the formatting is holding as it should.

Bottom line for those of us who can work in html: Feel free to create your page in your favorite editor and upload it to the TinyMce editor directly.

Shari,

So glad you got it working. The same thing happened when I took your code and pasted it in Dreamweaver, it got all wonky.

I guess bottom line is that the editor should work fine for either case:

1) Basic users: Just use the basic editor as is
2) Advanced users: Create the HTML in your favorite editor and then paste it into the "insert HTML" link.

I added two extra pages to mine . . . it's working good
