A tobiano pinto, a sorrel, and a grey mare approached the band, flanked by two hulking stallions, one another palomino roan, and a deep, unbroken ebony. The tobiano whinnied to Yuma.

The stallion let a breath out of his nostrils, his roan coat shining in the sun. The tobiano glared at Marie, standing at his side protectively.
