They slow you down so much, and the enemy is placed strategically enough that you're bound to get hurt really fast if you just rush it, which you have to do! And the less said about night crossings, the better.

you said it! we had an FRU in a perfect place by the german AB, but nooooooo, the leader had to make a new one accross the river and the bridge was out. we lost so many men!
