Bloodwing stared at the image of the hen, glancing between daughter and mother. They were so similar, and yet so different. In appearance they bore the same feathers, the same looks, but yet something was different. It took a moment of frowning concentration for him to realize that it was their expressions. Scarlet's mother was so relaxed, her face kind and welcoming. Her daughter's face was solemnized with worry, the weight of responsibility, and the desire to appear tough and capable.
Bloodwing nodded to the figure, giving a respectful bow, but without his usual playful embellishment.
"mother, why did father not tell me?" he asks
her mother had this look of worry "to keep you safe"
With a slight feeling of foreboding, Bloodwing glanced between mother and daughter, kneading his talons into the ground subconsciously.

There was a small silence as the figure shimmered and disappeared, leaving only the clear, running water behind. All was peaceful once more.
"What was that about?" Bloodwing looked towards the river warily before fixing his gaze on Scarletstar. "Was that--who I think it was?"
"who do you think?" she sigh
Bloodwing shrugged but did not answer. They both knew who it was. It was an unspoken fact, a non-verbal agreement.
With a sigh of his own, Bloodwing leaned his wing against Scarlet's side, gazing at her intently. "I'm not going to ask how in the squirrel-ridden world your mother popped out of a stream," he bit his beak, realizing his tactlessness. "But what exactly was she talking about?" he whispered quietly.

"something i been always wanting to know, on how i know some stuff i was never taught that all"

"There are still things about your past you don't remember," Bloodwing pointed out. "There could still be more pieces of this puzzle out there somewhere."

"true" she sigh
even tho she was grown up, she still looked like a lost chick looking for a home, for a place that fits her.
