I’ve never had food poisoning before just now, better than influenza but certainly not a fun experience. But instead of being able to stay home and wait it out, I was obliged to attend a professional meeting and sit through lectures on various topics to keep up my licensure. It wasn’t too bad, I could kind of doze in the semi-darkness and as long as I wasn’t eating, the symptoms were fairly mild. Then I hit the salmonella in dairy calves presentation (with pictures!) just as my nausea was at its peak, ugh! I survived that, thinking I should get credit for a case study rather than sitting through the lecture, but the small ruminant presentation coming next should be fairly safe, except the presentor couldn’t make it and we got emergency eye problems instead, with even worse pictures! I usually have a strong stomach but this was a bit too much even for me! Maybe I should be an accountant?
