Give them time.My guineas will be 11 weeks tomorrow and I haven’t heard a 2-syllable call yet, Im starting to think all three are males....![]()
Do you know approximately how long? I read in another thread that they should have found their voice at 9 weeks or so, and that's why I'm so bummed out...Give them time.
I don't even bother trying to check until about 4 months. Some people claim to hear it much earlier.Do you know approximately how long? I read in another thread that they should have found their voice at 9 weeks or so, and that's why I'm so bummed out...
With my Singleton keet, she started her buckwheat call at about 4-6 weeks. With our current group of 6 week old keets, I don’t hear much more than baby calls. What kind of noises do your guineas make? Have you listened to YouTube videos of male vs female calls?Do you know approximately how long? You might have all males, or maybe with only three guineas they don’t have much need to buckwheat away to find each other... Clearly you should just get more guineas!I have! I watched sooo many videos! Normally they chirp, and when they fight, well, they’re loud but no “buckwheats”. And sometimes they come to my porch to scream at me until I come out and shoo them off. (if they thought I was going to give them treats to shut them up, then they’re wrong!) ...
and those are the only sounds they make so far but no “buckwheat” or “comeback”, really just all one syllable calls and chirps so far...![]()
But but but... I wanted hens, so I could get eggs, so I could hatch more guineasYou might have all males, or maybe with only three guineas they don’t have much need to buckwheat away to find each other... Clearly you should just get more guineas!I have heard that an all male flock is pretty quiet.... My hubby and son would love that! Instead I have a very noisy flock heavy on the hens.
Nope, no buckwheats. It doesn't mean anything because both sexes can make the sounds that you recorded.I just recorded them being noisy...
I don’t hear a buckwheat, but I’m hopeful someone will tell me otherwise!
