hello!!
I ordered 10 Easter Egger chicks from Tractor Supply Company's website, so they would come from Hoover's Hatchery. I ordered them last Saturday, got them this morning (4/29). All was fine, but when I pulled them out, they were all red or yellowish.
Here's a color breakdown:
4 have VERY noticeable chipmunk markings, some aren't as contrasting, but they all can be seen from a few feet away as chipmunk marked.
2 are very red on their backs, but pretty golden on their undersides
4 have very faint chipmunk markings (could even be the light deceiving my eyes) and are very light in comparison.
I posted them on Facebook, had many people say they ARE NOT EEs but could be; Golden Sexlinks or Comets?, Rhode Island Reds, white americana?.. the list goes on.
So I called HH and the lady suggested I email them photos, and she said they were their EEs and thats just how they look. But I've had EEs in the past, and they have never looked like this. They seem too uniform in color. Maybe they're all white EEs?
They do not have any noticeable ear muffs or beards at this time (they are three days old, hatched sunday).
I will include photos of them, as many as I can attach.
Overall, they have pretty good temperaments for 3 day old babies, they come running right up to my hand and aren't scared of the dogs when they peek in the box. Very good eaters, very active, already chasing flies (one got in the house, then the chicken box). What do y'all think??
