I found my chick doing this in the coop this morning. I thought it was Exotic Newcastle but mow i think it isbecause she ate a Rose chafer. According to Backyard poultry Mag it says that they are toxic to chickens and chicks become drowsy, weak, and prostate, go into convulsions, and die or recover within 24 hours. What do you all think?

The chicks tounge is in its throat, and cant swallow, the jumping around is because it is choking. So... i am confused and need help or someone to put all of this together.

Oh my goodness, how sad! I don't have a clue what she's doing but her mouth opening like that looks like she's gasping for air. I sure hope someone can help you out soon!!!!!

I dont know but the weird thing is, i dont see her tounge. ??? Is it stuck in her throat? Now she is eating and drinking and chirps, but she did it again. so i have no clue.

my first thought when I saw the video was allergic reaction to something that is closing her throat up...my dog is allergic to certain hot dogs, and has similar "panic attack" episodes while trying to suck air. If it IS an allergy, it wouldn't have to be something she ate, it could be something in the air, something in the bedding, anything is fair game for suspicion. Even if she's never been allergic to anything, allergies usually develop over time and exposure. If you want to test it, put her in a completely different cage with different food, water dish, a different type of litter, and if she's been inside the house, take her out, if she's been outside, put her in. Watch to see if the symptoms stop after a day of the different environment. Otherwise, I have no idea what it could be, but I sure hope it's temporary!!
