A day had passed since Makena's incident with the odd canine, and he was still left wondering what he'd seen. Did the Cheetahs decide to cross with Hyenas? No, that didn't make any sense to him. But it was the best hypothesis he could come up with.
"So, what did it look like?" Chipo asked him, cocking a black brow as she walked alongside him on their hunt. Startled out of his thoughts, he jumped slightly. "Hmmm... little hyena-looking things with golden fur with odd marbling of black and white, huge fangs, big, round mouse ears, and a short tail," Makena vaguely explained. Chipo nodded and furrowed. "Interesting," she mused, then looked up to see the grass shifting ahead of them. "Sort of like that?" she whispered, giving him a nudge. He lifted his head and gasped, noticing three short tails flicking side to side above the tall grass, before the three colorful 'Hyenas' stepped out of the brush. "Get back," he uttered quietly, "They're dangerous." The two hurried into the foliage to watch.
"Woah!" exclaimed Chipo, grinning broadly in awe. "Shhh!" hissed Makena. Chipo's ears limply fell back and her grin grew sheepish.
"What was that?" asked one. Another sniffed the air with it's keen, black nose, sensing a familiar musk. "Cheetahs," another muttered gruffly under his breath, "Come on, we will hunt elsewhere." Beckoning with a sway of his head for the other two to follow him, he padded off, the others trailing close behind.
