★help!!! What Is This????★

I hate to interrupt as you've probably acted already... But personally I wouldn't lance it unless I was sure it's an abscess. Sometimes the muscles of a hen can separate to form a hernia, and you can get a protrusion of intestines just under the skin. In that case lancing would almost certainly cause massive internal infection. It's hard to tell from the photos, so don't take this as a diagnosis... Just something to beware of if you're uncertain what the bulge is.

Apologies if you're sure of what you're dealing with... Just thought I better say something in case.
Best wishes,
Erica

My most recent experience was with a severe staff infection in a 4 mth old whom we think was bitten by a spider. When my vet lanced it the gook busted out. (And I lost my lunch) Enough to fill a medicine cup she never even complained and she was not even red but a bit swollen. She is now on injectable antibotics and doing better. I am very lucky to have a vet as a family friend.
