Cilona's eyes slowly opened. (You ever notice how you close your eyes when you're about to be hit by something? Well that's what happened.) "Y-yeah" Cilona replied shakily.

Name: Basimah Lamis al-Zuwayyd

Favorite Weapon: Basimah does not believe in violence, and instead relies upon others to protect her.
Special Skills: She has no formal training or ability to protect herself easily. In exchange for refuge, or rather, a promise not to be killed, she works as a nurse and is indeed very accustomed to it.
History: A kidnapped figure of nobility, and like Farid (who is her cousin), the daughter of an ambassador. She is arranged to marry an unnamed nobleman once she reaches seventeen; a ploy to bind together and improve the relations between the native desert people and ethnic, supposedly full-blooded nobles. She was reported missing not long ago when nowhere to be found in the morning, the only evidence left behind a threatening letter scrawled out on a strip of bedspread.
Personality: A peaceful young lady, though shrouded in a good amount of mystery. She rarely speaks and instead relies on nods and remaining silent, as she does not want any trouble. Very stubborn.

Special Skills: A skilled swordsman. He has handled such weapons since he was a young child, starting with a Berber heirloom sword, and has been taught to craft them. If it weren't for being a pirate today, he would likely become a blacksmith.
History: Ahmed is of the Berber ethnicity, a nomadic group of people living in the deserts. He is from a long line of people practicing the art of swordsmanship, and had a fairly normal childhood up until he was captured by those working for royalty while wandering off into the desert at the age of twelve. He was stripped of his family and fellow tribesmen, and transformed into a slave. It was at this specific compound he had met Farid, an important Ambassador-like figure sent from a Sultan's child, who was just a year younger than himself. The two bonded closely because of their cultural similarities and soon plotted against the nobility and royalty, managing to escape to a life of piracy at seventeen. Once joining their crew they learned more about the fabled mermaids, and are thrilled to find their island, as it is believed on their ship that they have important, possibly world-impacting treasure buried beneath their island.
Personality: Humorous and kind, although very strong-willed. Has a bit of a problem with being serious. He received his strength and durability from living out in some of the most desolate sections of the desert.

Her family has always hated the royals for paying little attention to the famines that struck the high areas of their kingdom and because of this, she still holds a horrible grudge against them today, especially when her parents and three other siblings died from hunger. Angry and emaciated, she fled the land under her alias and lived as a man, joining the corsairs after being recruited near the coast at a tavern. She is of high rank, and is the captain of one of the many ships.
Personality: Fractious and harsh, not very easy to impress or beg second chances from. She is sharp-tongued and stern, knows how to manipulate. An avid drinker of grog.
