Keep posting, everyone!

I think your chicken is a Black Jersey Giant, notice the yellow bottoms to its feet. Australorps will have pink/white bottoms to their feet while Jersey Giants will have Yellow.

Oh, I almost forgot to ask you... How do you like your Amber Sexlink? I have 6 girls and they were the first chickens that I got, after my two deceased chooks passed. They are very sassy, but wonderful egg layers.

Hi!

Well, she's definitely very friendly. When I got her, I also had brought home Stormy (a blue Cochin cockerel at 5 weeks old) with me. She was the same age. She became "Guardian Chicken"; always protecting him from the 6-7-8 week old 'big girls'. She was also pretty cuddly, and when she got sick with a mild case of coccidiosis (as did Stormy and the others thanks to an unethical seller at the chicken swap I bought them from [the swap, not the seller!]), she got really claustrophobic and always wanted to flap around. When we built the coop, all the girls loved it. Amberbock doesn't mind being in the coop at all (all our chickens except Java who was raised outside are indoor chickens 90% of the time) and is usually among the first to sneak out and try to peck holes in the feed bag in the morning

She also likes to jump on the desk and peck at the keyboard.

Now that her buddy Stormy's gone and Java's with the girls, she's been more assertive. She's letting Java know that she's not the bottom ranker anymore!

She's also a complete cuddlebug. Amberbock loves to be taken out of the coop and cuddles with my fiance whenever she can. She's definitely my mate's chicken; with me she's a little more standoffish and less cuddlable. But I love Amberbock for both having protected Stormy and for looking like 'the classic CHICKEN' among a mixed flock (Speckled Sussex, a lavender/reddish Easter Egger, a purple/dark brown/etc Easter Egger, a Rhode Island Red, and a Mystery black Silkie x ??? sexlink). I don't know how well she'll lay; she's still pretty young

I'm hoping for our girls to lay by October or maybe even September. They're about 4 months old right now. I had bought Amberbock as a gift for my fiance who picked the individual chick out; her buddies were all pecking each other's tails and whatnot. I thought a cream/white chick might really look nice

Sorry to hear about your girls' passing! :< {hugs}

Amberbock sound sweet! My AmberLinks started laying around 4 months, so expect an egg soon! Some of mine are sweet and are willing to suddle once you pick them up, but others, like my little diva, Flower, flaps and carries on when you try to pick her up. We are averaging an egg a day from all 6 girlies, so you've got a good egger on your hands!

Here's a pic of one of the more average looking ones, Chica:

Oh cool!

Yours looks older than mine.

Amberbock's just starting to look less pristine white and more pinkish:

Amberbock's pretty!

That picture was taken right after Chica started to lay. After that, her comb grew larger and she became much more assertive. She's over 1 year old now, like her sisters.

Yours is pretty too

I wonder if they'll look alike when Amberbock's older.

I'm hoping we get eggs really soon! The countdown is driving me nuts!

'Course, we're also moving down the road next month, so I'm worried it might make the egg-laying later..

But we're supposedly gonna have LOTS of eggs. What with our pair of Easter Eggers, Amberbock, Red (RIR), and Speckled Sussex. Dunno how much our sexlink half-Silkie weird girl's gonna give, but hey.
