Welcome to the RP Writing Contest! So you want to take your roleplaying to the next step? Perhaps you have a character that intrigues you, or something exciting just happened in your RP thread that you think needs a little more screen time? Well, heres your chance! It doesnt matter if youre an RP pro or just joined the forum today, give this contest a shot!
The rules are very simple. Tell any story you like, anywhere, anytime you like. Just be sure to center the story around a BYC roleplay character of your choice.
The contest will be divided into categories based on length:
(1) 500 words or less.
(2) 500-1500 words.
(3) 1500-2500 words.
All roleplay types (chicken, horse, elf, etc.) will be grouped together, what matters is the length of the story.
Due to time constraints, the maximum story length is 2500 words, and there will be a 1 story per category limit for each contestant. If you have to go a little over (2515, for example) dont worry about it. I just want to make sure I have enough time to give each story a good read-through before scoring.
All stories will be judged on all aspects of the piece, from plot to character to the beginning hook and conclusion. I will be looking at grammar and punctuation a little bit, but Im not about to deduct fifty points because of a misplaced comma; in short, pieces written in chat-speak will not score as well as those with the period inside the quotation marks. As always, please run your piece through spell checker before submitting. It makes it easier for the judges to read and get the full effect of your entry. Thnk u.
When entering, please state clearly: (1) your username, (2) the title of your piece, (3) what thread your RP character is from, (4) your category, and (5) whether or not you would like feedback for your piece.
As of yet there is no due date, though it wont last longer than three or four weeks at the most. Well see how many entries are submitted, and go from there. Deadline will be posted a few days in advance, so dont panic if yours isnt completely ready when its posted. A winner and an honorable mention will be selected for each category.
Well, thats all the paperwork. If this sparks your interest at all, go out, write, and have fun!
Note: At this point Im the only judge for the contest, but it would be great to have a 2 or 3 judge panel. If you are at all interest even in just helping to judge one category, please drop me a PM and Ill let you know whats involved.
