Oh and I have a brooder already too that I just kicked the chicks out of tonight finally so will be ready to go for the quail when they hatch.

Do quail fly? Sorry for dumb question. I mean do they fly like birds or like chickens? Like if they escape from your cage will they be long gone? I dunno I guess I’m picturing pigeons when I hear quail

Ask @Nabiki how good they fly.

Just caught up with this thread. No promises on catching up on the other threads.

On the plus side all my dishes are clean and I can head to bed knowing I won’t wake up to a sink full of dirty dishes.
There's a rule in my house... You don't go to bed until the kitchen is clean...ever.

Well, they don’t fly fly like pigeons as far as I know, they’re ground birds, but they do tend to flush up a lot when scared and also don’t go home to roost like chickens so yes they can easily escape and be long gone because they won’t come home!!! You you can’t let them loose. Have to keep them in raised cages/hutches or an aviary/tractor on the ground.

They will fly over your roof and disappear in a matter of seconds.
