Make an appointment with your doctor and ask your doctor.

But yes both my doctor and the minis doctor have told me that we should be taking allergy medicine daily and not just when we get the stupid symptoms that bother us.

It depends on the med. Most allergy medicines work better if a certain steady level has built up in your system. This usually takes days of regular use. For example, I'm on montelukast, which takes about 5 days to build up properly in my system.

There are others that are short term meds that can be taken as needed. You have to read up on them.
