Problem with my chick Lazarus (who had an NDE)

Hey folks some of you may know of my chick Lazarus who was dead but then wasn't. He is now very weak and has a poblem with his bottom.

It was worse than this I pulled some off before I realised I should take a photo. Is this a really bad case of pastybut? I've only had it twice, the duckling tht had it died but I rescued the chick that did. If so this is my third case and by far the worst.

Is it some sort of issue with his organs/guts? Is it something to do with his died (Sharpes feed, dam water)? Or is it a result from coming back from the dead?

Not sure from the picture whether it's pasty butt, but I'd run warm water over it and gently pull it off, trying not to get him wet anywhere else. If you are relying on just commercial chick feed I think you should add chopped greens and cooked egg yolk. Occasionally my chicks would get pasty butt, but after adding greens that stopped. I just hatched 4 sets of chicks and no pasty butt. I'd clean the heck out of waterers. I hope Lazarus pulls through.

thank you. After I posted I soaked it in warm water and pulled gently with a paper towel andmost of it came off will prob be back in the morning however . Thanks for the greens tip

You can also keep his bottom coated with Neosporin or its generic equivalent as long as it does not contain pain reliever.
