i’m scared to go outside!! temps have dipped below freezing but this is the first wet/snow of the year

I just got done filling the wood box half way. Not going to break 40° here today.

Morning.
I'm not dragging but ain't ahead like I wanted to be. Got up early but 14° and a heavy ice on the truck had me spending an extra 25 minutes waiting on it to defrost and warm up.
Got here at my normal time.

Physics to the rescue...
On morning like what you describe, I use a pitcher of tap water ~1/2 gallon to gently pour on windshield for fast and painfree de-iceing. Been doing this for years. Learned growing up in Michigan. In the other hand was the combo brush, squeegee that I'd wipe the window clean before the thin coat froze on the glass.

sounds kinda like you drive a diesel! it’s almost impossible to get ours warm before getting to work!

Not necessarily. I've had gasers that took longer to warm up then diesels...... A lot longer in fact.
