@kdogg311 Do your normal novel quote thing...but before you start writing your replies to them delete half of them.

Over the years I’ve given up a lot. I read from Kindle a lot but I still have physical books. We haven’t set up our bookshelves yet since we moved. Plan to finish the house when it’s too weather outside.

It hurts my eyes reading too much on the screen which is kind of ironic considering how much I’m on here but it’s slightly different cause it’s not just straight reading, it’s typing and clicking things/scrolling and doing other stuff. I’d like to start doing both though. Can’t listen to audio books cause I’m much more of a visual person so it takes me a lot longer to progress/comprehend it and often have to rewind it and listen again so it’s just annoying haha

I love writing and reading. I just think English classes are boring.. and too easy.
I love writing essays and research papers when the topic interests me.

You know you don’t have to reply to every post?

Ahhh I see. That makes sense then. In that cause I think I’d have to agree then. Most English classes are so basic/busy work type stuff too. Although that said, I actually liked most of my college ones, especially the ones at the community college I switched too. I had the same professor for both of them and I love all the discussions and stuff haha I also once took a crime and detective fiction class so we only read those kinds of books and that was really interesting. That was also the same professor haha

And I’m the same way, if the topic interests me, it’s easy. But even then, it takes me a long time to get started.

And yeah I know but I like to. Idk. I don’t reply to every single one usually, just interesting ones/ones I have something to say about, but the problem is there’s lots of interesting ones and ones I want to say stuff about/reply to lol

You guys are too interesting. :lau

:lau I don’t think I can do that. Wouldn’t know which ones to delete lol

I’ve got almost 2 1/2 acres and 11 chickens and a large garden... does that count!? Also have a cat and goldfish and some blueberry plants and wild raspberries.

But we’re also extremely close to stores and everything and technically in a neighborhood.
What's the first thing that's going to happen in a crisis? Looting. Where are they going to go first? To your coop, to your garden, and your bushes. Boom, no more resources. You've got to be far enough that you're not within walking distance of more than a very small number of people. None, if possible.

X2!! LOL

Hmmm.... that’s true... didn’t think of that!! But we’re also set back in the woods so practically no one even knows I have a garden or chickens. So I think we’re safe there. :fl

Or at least I hope so. Hopefully they will loot the other houses first. The ones that are actually in the neighborhood. There are tons of others.

But I definitely should get away from the cities and towns.

I want to eventually.

Just for now I’m stuck here haha

Although that said.... maybe it would be smarter to stay here and ride it out for a while? Because I’m sure everybody will have the same idea of getting out of the cities so if I stay here long enough, I may end up having the cities to myself/being the only one here. :p

We could fence the perimeter and/or get a guard dog and/or set up snipers or a camera or something in the huge pine trees :p

When I was in the hospital we played a card game called “Exploding Kittens”. It was hysterical!

This is one of the few games I have :)

I don't live as remote as I'd like. The looting can be stopped if you are well armed ;)

My bookshelves are not as organized as I'd like, but the most important categories are as such... There is one small bookshelf that is exclusively books I have yet to read and books that I reference often. If I am looking for something it is usually on this bookshelf. So travel books for an upcoming trip, Storey's Guide books, and some randoms I've picked up at the library sale and garage sales that I want to read live here. The next most important section is hiking/trail books and topo maps (I LOVE MAPS!!!!). I also am a book hoarder and have learned to let go in recent years. If I won't ever read a book again I will donate it. I keep reference books and books from my favorite authors and art books, but if a run of the mill novel and it's a one and done sorta read, it gets donated.

Also if you have some sort of kindle or e-reader you can download library books for free! Free books! I love this feature because my local library is tiny and has a terrible selection and is only open hours while I am at work, so I do read lots of stuff electronically through my library.

What! I did not know this. I have the same issue with the local library, so I end up driving pretty far to get to an area with better selection.
