The whole show basically makes fun of the whole genre of old style cartoons and shows that feature heros versus crazy monsters. Like every power rangers episode or even American superhero cartoons where they fought off a new villain a week each one more outrageous than the last.

How about Pom Poko? It's about raccoons with magical balls. Their balls help them shape shift and they also use them as many, many tools such as parachutes and maps.

Thank you! I love them to death as well. I’m not sure why they are noticeably smaller and less feathered than the others but their huge personality makes up for it.
